Ledcrieff & Lairds Fishing Report – w/e 6th November 2016

Despite the cold conditions, Ledcrieff has just had probably the busiest weekend of the year with Anglers coming from as far as Edinburgh, Aberdeen & Ayrshire. We were delighted to welcome Mr Biggars group from Springwater fishery yesterday. The 5 rods fished all day and had a great day with a good ammount of fish caught. Mt Biggar himself landed no fewer that 19 on a ‘cheesy wotsit’ fished on the bung. He also lost a fish at the end estimated at around 10lb, Well done that man!!

There have been several other good catches, with plenty brown, blue and rainbow trout in the 3-5lb brackit. Anglers are having to work a little harder for there fish given the cold conditions. Those who persevere are of course duely rewarded.

We also welcomed Trout Fisherman to Ledcrieff who are featuring an article on Ledcrieff in the coming months. I’ll keep you posted on that when i have an issue date.

As for the coming week, temperatures will be dipping further with an area of high pressure taking hold tonight. tempreatures are forecasted to dip to as low as -9 in the glens at nighttime and as such we will not be suprised to see some early morning ice on the water.

The re opening of the track up to Lairds is well and truly underway now. Given that, our winter program of works to have the loch ready for 2017 is all go. Lairds Loch will feature as one of the only natural any method stocked fisheries in Tayside and will no doubt prove a hit with anglers both old and new. Keep an eye of the facebook pages for updates.

The hut now has it’s new wood burner which will be a warm welcome in the coming weeks. We now also have a range of cans, water, crips and sweets available. I have also bought in Red Bull, Lucozade & San Pelegrino. There will be complimentary hot snacks available at the weekends also.

For those wanting to try their hand at fly fishing, we offer coaching (booking required) and we also do group bookings where we will throw in the BBQ and a photographer. Fire me an email at info@ledcrieff.co.uk for full details.

Remember, we are open ’til dark 7 days a week.

See you on the water,

Tight Lines!!
