Ledcrieff Report | An Epic BIG Fish Week

screen-shot-2016-09-26-at-12-16-25

It’s fair to say that this past week will go down as one to remember at Ledcrieff.

With good numbers of rods on most days, over 30 fish above 6lb were caught including several tipping 10lb. In addition to these fish, many rods were well in to double figures with the average size now tipping the scales at 4lb.

We have lots of big blues, browns and rainbows in the loch with sport fast and furious pretty much all the time. Dry flies, cdc’s and lures are working well with the floating line still being the order of the day.

With the cooler weather at night, fish are in chasing mode and can be seen making large bow waves regularly when fishing fast subsurface, all heart stopping stuff.

Notable anglers from the past week have been Robert Kippen, Colin Shepherd & Gordon Tait who all caught well in to double figures. Jumbo browns have been showing up in catches although none of the 9lb – 10lb fish have been caught yet.

WINTER OPENING TIMES/FISHERY UPGRADE WORKS

Both lochs will be fully open through the winter 7 days a week til dark with our weekly stocking of Browns, Blues & Rainbows continuing. We would like to point out that the following works will be getting carried out mid week at times so both lochs are ready for the 2017 season. Anyone who would like to help out with these works over the winter then please let us know.

Work Being Carried Out:-

Jetty replacement/upgrades
Dam wall clearing/tidy
Boat repairs with new oars
New boats for lairds loch
Improved disabled access
Foot path repairs
Fallen tree clearance
New picnic tables
Hut repairs & general surroundings area clearance
Improved Lairds Loch Access (subject to approval)

Short Evening Tickets are still available for September starting at £11.

These are proving to be massively popular given the prolific hatches on the water. Why not come up and give it a bash before the clocks change.
